The CAB, recognized as a Unit of Excellence María de Maeztu by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities

The Center for Astrobiology (CSIC-INTA) has received the distinction as Unit of Excellence María de Maeztu in the 2017 call of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, designed to recognize the excellence in organizational structures of investigation.

Last Friday the 16th of November was published the Resolution of the Presidency of the State Agency of Investigation (AEI) by which public grants and accreditations are granted corresponding to the 2017 call for Centers of Excellence 'Severo Ochoa' and Units of Excellence 'María de Maeztu' , of the State Subprogram of Institutional Strengthening. In it, the CAB received the distinction as a unit of excellence María de Maeztu with the program 'Evaluating the emergence of life as a universal phenomenon through planetary exploration', whose scientific direction will be in charge of the researcher David Barrado Navascués, professor of research INTA.

The new María de Maeztu units will have a financing of 500,000 euros per year for four years. They are stable research structures without legal personality that may be integrated by all or part of the research staff of a center, university department or research institute. More than a hundred prestigious international scientists participated in the evaluation.
