Open the registration period for the course "Astronomy and technological developments"

Astronomy is a discipline in constant development that enjoys a great attraction for society in general. With this premise, the Center for Astrobiology (CAB / CSIC-INTA), in collaboration with the Astronomical Association of Cartagena (ASAC) and the Astrophysics group of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), organizes the course "Astronomy and technological developments. " The latest advances in some of the most cutting-edge fields of astronomical research and the relevance that the associated technological developments have played in the achievement of said achievements will be described from July 23 to 25.
The course is composed of conferences that will be complemented by practical workshops and observations of the sky in which attendees will participate actively, receiving the necessary basic information to continue developing these activities once the course is finished.
The person in charge of the course is Enrique Solano, principal investigator of the Spanish Virtual Observatory and head of the Data Archive Unit of the CAB. Among the faculty, in addition, there are several members of the CAB, such as Jesús Martínez Frías, head of the Department of Planetology and Habitability; María Rosa Zapatero Osorio, responsible for the research line "Substellar objects and planetary systems"; Miguel Mas-Hesse, head of the Department of Astrophysics; and Natalia Ruiz Zelmanovitch, scientific disseminator and communicator in the Scientific Culture Unit of the CAB.
